WE TRAIN COACHES AND ATHLETES TO COMPETE BIBLICALLY

Faith 101

Gentlemen, this is football.” Vince Lombardi was the legendary coach of the Green Bay Packers from 1959 to 1967.

Green Bay Packers football players who played the game for years would hear Lombardi begin each season with five simple words, “Gentlemen, this is a football.” Lombardi would then go over the basics of what a football is and its role in the game. He would then take his team out and show them the field, explaining where the out-of-bounds lines and the end zones were.

Lombardi told his players what they needed to know about their lives as football players. Football coaches have emulated his approach for decades.

Christ-Centered

In Acts 2, Peter delivers his first and only sermon with simplicity and clarity. He spoke in terms his audience could understand. They didn’t have to guess what he meant.

Peter’s sermon was, most importantly, Christ-centered. As he turned each point toward Christ, the audience responded, “Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’” (2:37)

The Kingdom Coach and Athlete explain the basics to their team and look for opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, leaving no doubt in their audience’s minds about what to do next.

Bible Memory Verse – And the word of God kept on spreading, and the number of the disciples continued to multiply greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith.” Acts 6:7
