WE TRAIN COACHES AND ATHLETES TO COMPETE BIBLICALLY

Built on Faith and Wisdom

Oklahoma’s head coach, Patty Gasso, took over the softball program in 1995 and has become one of the most successful coaches in the history of college softball. Her teams have achieved four national championships. Her main objective was not to transform her team into a national powerhouse but something greater. “Winning is not what I’m on earth to do, not winning softball games. The Lord has put it in my heart to win souls and do it in a way that is not forceful but more trying to be the light for others through the way I live. For me, success is that I’ve made some kind of difference in a player’s life, both spiritually and maybe emotionally or through helping build their character, helping build them into confident, strong women.”

Proverbs 1-2 – Strong Commitment

Gasso has built her softball program on faith and wisdom. The Book of Proverbs offers some of the most practical advice in the entire Bible. Its wisdom can serve as the foundation on which everything else is built. Wisdom is the skill of living according to God’s ways, as summarized in Proverbs 1:7: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

Gaining wisdom requires effort, time, and maturity to understand a deeper insight—to know whether one is “on course.” It also demands a strong commitment to learning how to apply these proverbs to life.

The Kingdom Coach and Athlete strive to attain wisdom to benefit from it. They understand that wisdom can only be gained through a healthy fear of God.

Bible Memory Verse – “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105 (LSB)
