God’s Timing

American swimmer Caeleb Dressel was already regarded as the best swimmer in the world, but when he won gold in the 100-meter butterfly at the Tokyo Olympics, there was no doubt about it. He’s easy to identify because of the sleeve tattoo on his left arm. It features a large eagle with his favorite Bible verse, Isaiah 40:31, which states, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” He told the Baptist Standard, “The reason I’m in the sport—not just to go fast times, but to inspire people and show them where I find my happiness with what God’s given me.” He also mentioned that he has learned to trust God’s timing, “Whether it be a rough point in your life or a top pinnacle in your life. You’ve just got to take pauses and really trust what He’s doing.”
Luke 1 – Vertical Trust
Dressel has learned that, regardless of the circumstances, whether unpleasant or enjoyable, God is in control. In Luke 1, Mary undoubtedly never imagined what she would face when the angel announced the plan for her life. It had to be hard when few would have believed the truth about her pregnancy, including Joseph.
Mary decided to trust in the Lord’s power despite the hardships she might face. Whenever you face challenging circumstances, a vertical perspective is crucial. Submitting to God’s will is much easier when our eyes are on Him.
The Kingdom Coach & Athlete trust in God’s will, way, and timing for their lives. No matter the circumstances, they lean on Him for understanding.
Bible Memory Verse – “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give Him the Throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and there will be no end of His kingdom.” Luke 1:32-33 LSB
