WE TRAIN COACHES AND ATHLETES TO COMPETE BIBLICALLY

Look Toward the Future

When Matt Rhule was introduced at the Big Ten Media Days as Nebraska’s 31st head football coach, he talked about the future and what needed to be restored to the football program.

Rhule said, “We want to be a team that you say, ‘You know what? That team’s feared.’ But we’re not at that point yet. We’re at a point where I believe we have to take back the respect of what it means to play Nebraska and to be at Nebraska.

I want people to respect us when they see that white helmet with that red N on it. I want our fans to respect us when they pay their money to come watch us play. And I want our opponents to respect us. And I want all of college football to respect the way Nebraska plays the game.”

Every newly hired coach points toward the future and what the fans can expect.

Luke 21 – Eternal Promise

The last part of Luke 21 is dedicated to teachings about the future. The destruction of the temple in Jerusalem, being watchful for Jesus’ return, and His prophecy that the temple would be fulfilled in AD 70.

Jesus also warned His followers about what they could expect between His resurrection and His second coming. Besides describing the threat of false teachers, war, and natural disasters, He reminded His believers to persevere in faith. God had sealed them for eternity, and they had the promise of His return.

The Kingdom Coach and Athlete help their team see the future. They point toward the patience and determination everyone needs while they wait for the promises to become realities. Most of all, the Kingdom Coach and Athlete point toward the hope of Jesus’ return as they live for Him today.

Bible Memory Verse – “Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those who are in the midst of the city must leave, and those who are in the countryside must not enter the city; because these are days of vengeance so that all things which are written will be fulfilled.” Luke 21:21-22 LSB
