WE TRAIN COACHES AND ATHLETES TO COMPETE BIBLICALLY

Parental Politics

The number of good coaches leaving sports is alarming due to parental politics. Coach Kori Clements resigned due to political pressure after leading her high school volleyball team to a successful 33-14 season. It wasn’t because of unethical behavior, scandal, or rule violation. She said, “I cannot and will not compromise the integrity of my decisions based on a parent’s political pressure or position. I believe strongly in the value of athletics, that being a part of a team is a privilege, and playing time is earned.”

Esther 3-4 – Prideful Schemes

Esther was made queen of Persia; all appeared well. But she faced her circle of critics who plotted to annihilate the Jews within the Persian Empire. Haman used his position with Xerxes to scheme with backroom politics to selfishly achieve his petty purposes.

No doubt Haman was driven by pride and anger to plot the destruction of the Jews in the Persian Empire. Whether it’s parental politics or the “good ol’ boys” scheming for power, it’s usually pride and anger that motivates them. It’s always wise to avoid getting involved with schemes of prideful and angry people. While pride brings destruction, humility brings life.

The Kingdom Coach and Athlete continue to seek understanding and wisdom from the Word of God with a humble heart.

Bible Memory Verse “Then Mordecai said for them to respond to Esther, ‘Do not imagine that you in the king’s house can escape any more than all the Jews. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, and you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not reached royalty for such a time as this?’” Esther 4:13-14 (LSB)
