WE TRAIN COACHES AND ATHLETES TO COMPETE BIBLICALLY

The Warning

The two-minute warning originated in the NFL’s early years, when the official game time was kept by a member of the officiating crew and the stadium clock was unofficial. The warning served as a checkpoint, ensuring teams were informed of how much time remained in the game. In the early 1960s, the AFL made the stadium clock the official game time, a change the NFL adopted later in the decade, shortly before its merger with the AFL. With television becoming an important factor in the game, the two-minute warning was retained as a commercial break and served as a “tension-building” moment, heightening anticipation and providing teams with a strategic pause.

Revelation 6 – Clock Running

Revelation 6 contains a warning that reflects God’s love and grace. This chapter marks the start of a new section in John’s vision, as Jesus opens God’s scroll and reveals several stages of judgment that are coming upon the world. These end-time prophecies also appear in Daniel’s Book and in Jesus’ teachings in Matthew 24 and Mark 13.

Good coaches set clear boundaries and consequences when athletes cross them. They also warn their team before the team strays from the right path. God does much the same with His warnings about future judgments against sin. Rather than ending the world quickly, He shows mercy and offers opportunities for repentance even after the judgments begin. His words serve as a warning to everyone who rejects the gospel today and motivate us to witness to those who face God’s wrath.

The Kingdom Coach and Athlete believe God’s judgments are tempered by His grace and bring complete harmony as He establishes His kingdom. They use every opportunity to share His love and mercy with others while there is still time, trusting that God’s timing is perfect and His plans will bring about ultimate justice and restoration.

Bible Memory Verse – Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline. Therefore, be zealous and repent.” Revelation 3:19 (LSB)
