Complaint Conundrum
One common problem in the NBA is players who are too busy complaining to get back on defense. It’s far too common to watch a player complaining about a no-call lead to a 5-on-4 advantage on the other end of the floor and a basket for the opposing club. Instead of losing out on just two points from the no-call, a 4- or 5-point swing takes place in a few seconds.
Numbers 11-12 – Lack of Faith
The Israelites complained as they traveled through the wilderness for about a year. The Book of Numbers picks up their journey from Egypt to the promised land, where it left off in the Book of Exodus. They displayed their lack of faith in God when complaining about their condition. God provided enough manna, so no one ever went hungry, but they still complained about it.
Some began grumbling about their meatless diet, remembering the varied foods they had enjoyed in Egypt while forgetting their bondage in slavery. The grumbling of a few spreads to many. Before long, the entire nation of Israel was rebelling against the Lord—just because He hadn’t rained down meat along with the manna! It’s no different today when we rebel against God.
The Kingdom Coach and Athlete choose to be content where the Lord has placed them. They are confident that He will provide for all their needs. They are grateful for what the Lord has given them. Paul wrote, “I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content” (Philippians 4:11).
