Perfection
Tom Brady thinks he had just one “perfect” football game. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback recently pointed to a 2007 Sunday Night Football game as his “perfect” night as an NFL QB. New England beat Buffalo, 56-10, on Nov. 18, 2007. Brady threw for 373 yards and five touchdowns, completing 31 of 39 passes. He ended the game with a QB rating of 146.1.
“I almost giggle every time I think about that game,” Brady said in Greatness Code, an Apple documentary. “Because ever since that game, I’m still trying to get back to that point. Because in so many ways, for me, it was a perfect night.” New England scored on seven straight possessions. “That was a clinic,” Brady said. “That’s the one that you’re always trying to strive for.”
Hebrews 1 – Christ is Superior
Perfection or superiority is something athletes strive toward, and it is also the central theme of the book of Hebrews: Christ is superior in His person and work. Throughout the book, the author reveals this theme in detail. The author warns his readers not to drift from Jesus Christ, who is the greatest, with everything else being less. The priority is Jesus Christ. He is greater than the prophets. He is greater than any revelation in the Old Testament. God has fully expressed Himself in Christ.
The Kingdom Coach and Athlete reject placing their faith in fame, prestige, and success. Jesus Christ is superior to anything and—anything and everything. They believe there is no other way to God. Jesus Christ is superior to any method, any religion, any philosophy, anything that exists. Jesus Christ is superior.
Bible Memory Verse – “To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.” Titus 1:15 (LSB)
