Resurrection
In the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics, the U.S. hockey team beat the mighty Russian team in a dramatic upset. The U.S. team was made up of college players who would beat the four-time defending gold medal-winning Soviet team. The Soviet squad, which was considered the best team in the world, fell to the youthful American team 4-3 before a frenzied crowd. E.M. Swift of Sports Illustrated wrote, “It was an Olympian moment, the kind creators of the Games must have had in mind, one that said: Here is something that is bigger than any of you.”
Matthew 28 – The Power of the Risen Savior
The resurrection of Jesus Christ was bigger than any event in history. It was more than an Olympian moment. The resurrection is the triumphant and glorious victory for every believer. Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose on the third day, according to the Scriptures. And He is coming again! The dead in Christ will be raised up, and those who are alive at His coming will be changed and receive new, glorified bodies.
Christianity is not the mere devotion of disappointed men and women to a martyred leader. It is the power of the Risen Savior on the inside of a believer. He promised to be with us through the end of this age, and there is never a day too dark to remove our great commission to go, to teach, and to baptize. It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that we can succeed, but in His power, we will be successful (Acts 1:8).
The Kingdom Coach and Athlete accept the truth of Jesus’s resurrection miracle as an act of faith. They believe it, just as Christians have done in every generation since.

Bible Memory Verse –
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to keep all that I commanded you: and behold I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 LSB
