WE TRAIN COACHES AND ATHLETES TO COMPETE BIBLICALLY

Seek to Glorify God

Even if you are not facing an opponent, competition in sports is always accompanied by a risk of injury. Whether in water, air, or on the ground, sports can be a dangerous activity. While bull riding is one of the riskiest sports, it’s hard to beat jumping out of planes when base jumping or something as crazy as helicopter skiing. No doubt, many wondered what motivated Lindsey Vonn to soar down the side of a mountain, risking another severe injury to her body.

John 7 – Seek to Glorify God

Jesus faced risk or danger when He faced the enemies of the gospel in John 7. There was no doubt the religious leaders of His day wanted to kill Jesus. Though He knew their intent, He refused to flinch from the mission the Father had given Him. It’s important to note that while His behavior might have been risky, it wasn’t reckless or foolhardy. He wasn’t looking for the first chance to be arrested. He knew the plan was to die for the sins of the world. He also knew the timing was crucial. Serving God doesn’t mean someone has a death wish; but instead, they realize there may be risk or danger due to serving God.

The world system hated Jesus, and it continues to hate those who follow Him today. More than ever, it seems believers face ridicule for standing up for their convictions and Christian worldview than in recent years. The pressure to support unbiblical stances on race or gender will only increase in the future.

The Kingdom Coach and Athlete are willing to risk their own safety to serve God’s purposes. They recognize doing right might involve some form of risk to their own reputation or even job. They try to balance their enemies’ danger with dedication to the mission without throwing caution to the wind. They always seek to glorify God in their actions and trust Him.
