WE TRAIN COACHES AND ATHLETES TO COMPETE BIBLICALLY

Showing Love For God

Week 14 in the NFL 2020 was “My Cause My Cleats” week, in which players expressed their commitment to the causes most important to them through specially designed custom cleats. Many players exhibited their devotion to Christ by supporting ministries like the Fellowship of Christian Athletes—including Bills quarterback Matt Barkley, Broncos linebacker Malik Reed, Redskins quarterback Case Keenum, Jaguars safety Cody Davis, and Raiders fullback Alec Ingold.

Deuteronomy 3-4 – Follow God’s Laws

In Deuteronomy, God reminds the Israelites of His providence over their lives and offers instructions on how to live in the future. Moses warns his people against being tempted by idolatry as he teaches each generation to obey the Lord. Following God’s laws was essential to their prosperity and security, and it also demonstrated their love for God.

You can express your love for God through your athletic performance. As a Christian, the apostle Paul wrote that you could use your physical abilities, including athletic performance, to unleash your love for God. He wrote, “I urge you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God (because of how God demonstrated His love for you on the cross), to present your bodies (consciously commit your physical abilities to God), a living and holy sacrifice (dead to your own interests and alive to God’s interests) acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship (the most logical way for you to express your love and reverence to God)” (Romans 12:1).

The Kingdom Coach and Athlete maximize their performances by consciously committing their actions to express the quality of their love for God.

Bible Memory Verse – “The secret things belong to Yahweh our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may do all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29 (LSB)
