WE TRAIN COACHES AND ATHLETES TO COMPETE BIBLICALLY

The Cost of Discipleship

Not all who attend a football game and wear the home team’s jersey are members of the team. Likewise, not all who attend church and call themselves Christians are disciples.

College coaches understand how important commitment is when an athlete agrees to play for their school. While an athlete might love their school visit and enjoy the facilities, coaches, and strength program, every coach is looking for a commitment to the team, not just someone who believes their school would be the right place for them to attend.

Luke 9 – Saying No to Self

Discipleship is not an option for believers. Following Christ is more than merely saying a prayer or attending a church service; it involves obeying Him, not just accepting the truth about Him. Even the demons believed Jesus was the Son of God.

Jesus was clear in Luke 9:23 that someone who follows Him must deny himself and follow Him daily. He even says they must take up their cross and be willing to give up their life in verse 24! Jesus was calling for willingness to endure rejection, persecution, and even death, to say no to self.

The Kingdom Coach and Athlete not only believe the truths about the gospel but also believe their lives must reflect the evidence, which includes coaching. That’s not to say they have perfect moral character, but their lives should show progress in growing more like Christ.
