The Win
“The Jets will win Sunday. I guarantee it.” Those were the words from Joe Namath in 1969, just a few days before his underdog New York Jets played the Baltimore Colts in the Super Bowl.
Revelation 12 – The Battle
For most of the sportswriters who were interviewing Namath, his promise of victory wasn’t only cocky but crazy! The Colts were 18-point favorites and had the best offense and defense in football. Many reporters predicted a blowout for the Colts; the Jets won 16-7.
John’s vision continued in Revelation 12 with the climax of the battle between God and Satan. Joe Namath’s promise of victory might seem impressive, considering sports history. Still, nothing comes close to God’s promise of a definite victory in the future for believers as He helps us endure today’s trials.
John introduces the main characters involved in the final battles in the long war against God in chapter 12. The woman (Israel), the dragon (Satan), and the male child (Jesus Christ). Jesus had already established His power over Satan when He died on the cross for our sins.
The Kingdom Coach and Athlete are confident in God’s promise to prevent Satan’s efforts to stop Christ’s kingdom from being established. The Lord Jesus Christ will win!
Bible Memory Verse – Then the seventh angel sounded, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever.” Revelation 11:15 (LSB)
