WE TRAIN COACHES AND ATHLETES TO COMPETE BIBLICALLY

Warnings Require Action

Vince Lombardi never let his 1967 team forget the Packers’ loss in the 1963 College All-Star game. The Green Bay Packers were two-time NFL champions. They had just come off the 1962 season with a 13-1 team that was considered one of the best in football history. “Vince was pretty upset after that loss—he told us it was the most embarrassing loss of his coaching career. Training camp was rough under Vince for the next week,” said Dave Robinson, who played for the College All-Stars and later for the Packers. The defeat served as a warning to Lombardi. He knew the Packers had problems, and this game proved it. Immediately, Lombardi set out to make the adjustments necessary to win in the NFL. His team won the Super Bowl in 1967.

Obey God’s Word – Matthew 2

In Chapter 1, Matthew detailed Jesus’ kingship by His birth, but in Chapter 2, Christ’s kingship is shown by the circumstances surrounding His birth. Five dreams surrounded the birth of Jesus. Three are dreams of warning. In each case, those who were warned made adjustments to avoid disaster. God warned the Magi in a dream to avoid Herod. He warned Joseph to escape to Egypt. He told Joseph when to return and warned him of Herod’s successor.

Sometimes, we need to obey God’s Word and trust Him completely even when we don’t understand the timing of the direction in our life. Maybe we will know the reason later, but it’s always the right move to trust and obey Him. Trusting, waiting, and humility were all qualities necessary for Joseph, Mary, and Jesus’s journey.

The Kingdom Coach and Athlete trust and obey the Lord regardless of their circumstances. They simply do the will of God and let Him work out the details in His time.
