Difference Maker

It’s easy to see that Tom Brady has been the difference-maker for the Bucs and the Pats. He has made the NFL postseason in 18 of 21 years. Few doubt that Brady has proved to be the best quarterback to play the game. His success with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers adds another layer to his historic career. The Bucs had a losing record for the three seasons before Brady arrived. Some critics claimed he was simply a product of the New England Patriots system until he proved them wrong. His Bucs teammate Mike Evans was exactly right when he said, “He’s the greatest player to play the game. If you add him to any roster, I’m sure the outcome would be somewhat like this. He always gets teams to the playoffs. He’s a natural-born winner, leader, all that.”
Judges 6-7 – Divine Empowerment
The Spirit of the Living God is the greatest difference-maker this world has ever known. When He came upon Gideon (Judges 6:34), as He often did to empower God’s people for great deeds, He gave him power and wisdom. Idolatry had sapped Israel’s strength and taken her freedom. But Gideon, motivated by the Spirit, blew the trumpet to summon the nation to war. Though lacking adequate weapons, the men responded.
Gideon’s faith was weak, as shown by his request for the fleece to be dry and the ground wet. The fleece was not a search for God’s will; Gideon already knew God’s will! The fleece revealed Gideon’s weakness. God was patient with his weak faith. He had already promised success and had supernaturally consumed Gideon’s offering. God’s Spirit is the difference-maker in living for Christ.
The Kingdom Coach and Athlete know they need the “dew of Heaven” every morning (Hosea 14:5). They depend on God’s Spirit for success.
Bible Verse: “But as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh.” Judges 24:15 (LSB)
